• Outreach activities with the National Trade Associations (NTAs).

5 September 2017On 17 August, DIGITALEUROPE's Director-General Cecilia Bonefeld-Dahl visited two Swedish trade associations who are members of DIGITALEUROPE: the Association of Swedish Engineering Industries and IT&Telekomforetagen. The Confederation of Swedish Enterprise was also invited to the meeting.

The event started off with the NTAs welcoming Mrs Cecilia Bonefeld-Dahl and Mr Alf Karlsson, State Secretary to the Minister for Housing and Digital Development. Each NTAs gave a brief introduction of the work that they implement in Sweden. Cecilia Bonefeld-Dahl took the opportunity to update them on DIGITAEUROPE’s work and priorities in Brussels.

Mr Alf Karlsson outlined the new digital strategy launched by the Swedish government. It results that Sweden’s digital strategy and DIGITALEUROPE’s main priorities are aligned, as both share common vision and goals to digitize Europe.

The discussions went on with looking at solutions on how to best share knowledge among stakeholders from both the private and public sectors, and on how to feed each other with relevant data and information so that policy-makers take future-proof and evidence-based decisions. When it comes to the digital transformation of the industry and of the society, both Cecilia Bonefeld-Dahl and Alf Karlsson acknowledged the importance of skilling up the workforce and of promoting digital skills with youngsters.

Three start-up businesses joined the discussion, showing how digital health businesses are revolutionizing their industry by using IoT, BigData and scalable remote healthcare services.  The three start-ups were represented by:

    1. Michael Collaros CEO and Co-founder, Aifloo www.aifloo.com

    2. Petronella Warg Corporate Communications, Min Doktor www.mindoktor.se

    3. Jan-Åke Lindqvist CEO WSI AB www.wsisweden.com

The conclusion of the discussions highlighted that there is an urgent need for more collaboration between industries, government and citizens in order to equip the EU with the necessary digital structural changes.

“As more and more consumers use digital technologies in their daily life, a digital transformation action plan must be at the heart of every industry modernisation process. The future is now.” Cecilia Bonefeld-Dahl, Director General of DIGITALEUROPE
