XpanDH

Standards for a Health Data Ecosystem

XpanDH: “Expanding Digital Health through a pan-European EHRxF-based Ecosystem” aims to advance the transfer of health data among EU members and regions through common interoperability specifications.

In line with the focus of the European Health Data Space (EHDS) on unleashing the full potential of health data in Europe, XpanDH will concentrate on leveraging an established network of networks and a vibrant ecosystem to support the adoption of the European Electronic Health Record Exchange format (EEHRxF).

XpanDH will trigger genuine and participatory involvement from all relevant end-users – from patients and caregivers to professionals and more – in the EEHRxF implementation and dissemination. Compounding this impact will be the consortium’s capacity to ensure the necessary flexibility and openness to manage potential changes and needs that arise from the co-creation process, to ensure real acceptance.

Objectives

  • Develop technical specifications and resources for the EEHRxF to ensure high-quality EHR systems within the EHDS.
  • Create an ICT toolkit for the supply and demand sides of healthcare providers to improve their readiness for the EEHRxF.
  • Test the X-Bundle with early adopters’ organizations, improve guidance material, and create reference cases for ecosystem maturation.
  • Build a pan-European digital health ecosystem that adopts the EEHRxF as a common feature through networking between solution providers, adopters, and end-users.
  • Develop a framework for sustainable ecosystem maintenance and growth of a pan-European digital health ecosystem.
  • Communicate XpanDH achievements broadly, collaborate with other EU-funded projects and initiatives, and unite organisations around the EEHRxF adoption domains.
The XpanDH project is funded by the European Union under the European Health and Digital Executive Agency (HADEA) and DIGITALEUROPE will contribute to the project by delivering industry input and facilitating dissemination and outreach efforts.
