Afrter sales
DIGITALEUROPE's After Sales group works on issues such as consumer care, retail support, repair activities, warranties, standardization of systems and methods to improve service and reduce costs. The group is also actively involved in the on-going Consumer Acquis review carried out by the European Commission; it is providing valuable industry input to the Commission, especially as far as business-to-consumer sales are concerned. DIGITALEUROPE welcomes the Consumer Rights Directive proposed by the Commission within the framework of the Consumer Acquis review and the draft Directive's underlying aim to establish a true single market for consumers. We support harmonisation of national consumer laws insofar as it stimulates cross-border consumer transactions and reduces compliance costs for business. However, we believe that consumer protection should be set at a reasonable level, one that neither threatens the competitiveness of industry nor increases costs for the consumer. The After Sales group is also reviewing IRIS repair coding and its usage by service agents in the field.
