Defence and Digital Resilience

Europe’s security today depends on how fast we can turn digital innovation into credible defence capabilities. From cyber resilience and AI to secure connectivity, simulation, and dual-use technologies, digital solutions are already reshaping the battlefield and protecting our societies. DIGITALEUROPE’s Defence Working Group connects the digital and defence worlds. We ensure that industry expertise informs policy, regulation, funding targets, and procurement. By accelerating Europe’s digital edge, DIGITALEUROPE helps transform innovation into operational readiness and strengthen Europe’s digital defence resilience.

Our objectives

  • Build a more connected and competitive European defence market;
  • Secure stronger digital investment and funding targets in EU and NATO defence budgets;
  • Enhance interoperability and streamline procurement;
  • Accelerate adoption of dual-use and critical technologies;
  • Strengthen resilience through public–private collaboration and innovation ecosystems.

Cross-cutting topics

Defence companies are increasingly affected by Europe’s wider digital agenda. We monitor and shape initiatives such as the Cyber Solidarity Act, the EU Cyber Diplomacy Toolbox, NIS2 supply-chain rules, and evolving standards on classified information and cloud. By adding the defence voice early in these debates, we reduce fragmentation, close regulatory gaps, and support a stronger European framework for resilience and innovation.

Our policy recommendations

Based on industry expertise and Europe’s strategic priorities, DIGITALEUROPE sets out clear recommendations to strengthen defence digital resilience. We focus on aligning EU and NATO frameworks, simplifying regulation, fostering innovation, protecting critical infrastructure, and boosting competitiveness. Together, these actions form a blueprint for transforming innovation into deployment at scale — reinforcing Europe’s resilience and technological leadership.

Defence Executive Council

To reinforce our mission, DIGITALEUROPE launched the Defence Executive Council — a high-level forum that brings together senior executives from leading technology, defence, and cybersecurity firms. The Council injects industry insight into policymaking, strengthens transatlantic cooperation, and accelerates the digital transformation of defence.
