Vacancy: Senior Strategic Communications Manager for Projects

DIGITALEUROPE is seeking a Senior Strategic Communications Manager to lead communication and stakeholder engagement activities in selected EU-funded projects and service contracts. The role combines strategic communication planning, stakeholder outreach, and hands-on delivery, while also contributing to mentoring and strengthening the communications function internally.

Key responsibilities 

  • Lead communication and stakeholder engagement activities for selected projects where DIGITALEUROPE is responsible for the communications work package. 
  • Develop and implement tailored communication strategies and outreach plans in collaboration with project managers and partners. 
  • Provide guidance and quality assurance on content, messaging, and visibility materials. 
  • Contribute to the overall development of communications methodologies, templates, and best practices across the projects portfolio. 
  • Support junior colleagues by advising, skill-sharing, and helping strengthen professional standards and consistency. 
  • Oversee communication-related budgets (“other costs”) in assigned projects, including vendor supervision and procurement processes. 
  • Contribute to tenders, KPI setting, reporting and monitoring of project impact. 
  • Ensure alignment with DIGITALEUROPE’s broader communications, policy and outreach activities. 

Key Requirements  

  • 7+ years of experience in communications, ideally within EU-funded projects or international organisations (10+ years considered a strong asset) 
  • Proven track record in leading work packages or major communication strands in complex, multi-partner initiatives. 
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement skills with experience interfacing with EU institutions, international partners and senior-level networks. 
  • Sound understanding of communication budgeting, procurement processes and quality assurance in project delivery. 
  • Excellent command of English; additional EU languages are an asset. 
  • Proactive, structured and able to guide and influence others without formal line management authority.
