Data Protection Day: Our projects to build a trusted digital Europe

The Data Protection Day is a moment to educate, reflect, and reaffirm our commitment to privacy and data protection as core European values.

In today’s all-digital era, where cookies, apps, and online platforms are deeply integrated into our daily lives, our personal data and rights are more important than ever. Digital technologies continuously reshape society, and alongside them, new policy frameworks are being debated and updated.

At DIGITALEUROPE, we are fully committed to safeguarding every European company and citizen’s fundamental rights over their personal data. This mission extends beyond advocacy. Through European-funded projects such as QUANTUMDS4SkillsxShare, and Digital4Security, we support the responsible, secure, and innovative use of data across sectors.

Our work goes even further. We actively engage with European policymakers to ensure that data protection safeguards are robust, clear and consistent across the EU. We strongly advocate for the harmonised enforcement of GDPR, providing businesses and citizens predictable and reliable protections for their personal data, while continuing to promote safer and practical approaches to data processing.

By combining projects, advocacy and policy engagement, we shape the digital ecosystem and reaffirm our long-term commitment to building a competitive, secure, and trusted digital Europe.

Our projects:

  • QUANTUM develops a trusted health data quality label, enabling secure reuse of health datasets for research and policymaking while respecting citizens’ privacy.
  • DS4Skills creates a data space for skills and employment, securely connecting education and workforce data to help individuals control their professional profiles and unlock new opportunities.
  • xShare facilitates secure and GDPR-compliant health data sharing, promoting portability and interoperability of electronic health records across EU systems.
  • Digital4Security builds cybersecurity and data sovereignty skills, equipping professionals to protect sensitive data and manage digital risks in an increasingly interconnected world.
