Empowering Women in digital: Learn about some of our current projects

As Europe continues to work to close the digital gender gap, initiatives that empower women and girls to pursue careers in technology need greater visibility. DIGITALEUROPE is a proud consortium member of EU-funded initiatives that drive change forward and recognises the vital role of women in the digital space.

One of these initiatives is the European Digital Skills Awards 2026, organised by the Digital Skills and Jobs Platform of the European Commission, which celebrates impactful projects across Europe. Applications for the Awards are open until 20 March 2026, and interested organisations can submit their initiatives via the application form.

Complementing this, a separate initiative under the EU-funded project Code Week “Girls in Digital”, taking place on 23–27 March 2026, encourages communities to engage girls in meaningful digital activities. Through Girls Code It Better (GCIB) Sprints, educators and organisations offer hands-on learning experiences where girls collaborate, build confidence, and solve real-world challenges using digital tools.

Both projects demonstrate how structured, hands-on activities and mentoring can increase girls’ engagement with technology and help address Europe’s ongoing digital skills gap.
