Vacancy: Associate Director or Director for Resilience & Critical Infrastructure Policy

Key Responsibilities & Job Description 

As the Associate Director/Director for Resilience & Critical Infrastructure Policy, you will be driving one of the most strategic policy areas of the fastest-growing digital associations in Europe. Your role entails a strong understanding of EU policymaking, the ability to work in a dynamic environment and drive consensus in our membership to build agile positions and engagement strategies and making a significant contribution to our growth. Your responsibilities include: 

  • Lead the Policy Group on Resilience & Infrastructure: cybersecurity and critical infrastructure are some of the most strategic policy areas in the EU and for the association. You will be responsible for the seamless functioning of the team and the Working Groups, including being up to speed with the latest policy developments and seeing through the successful adoption of our positions by driving consensus in the membership.   
  • Support on Security & Defence Policies: Collaborate closely with the Defence Working Group to align cybersecurity and infrastructure policy with emerging defence frameworks. Contribute to DIGITALEUROPE’s narrative on protection of critical infrastructure, defence, and dual-use technology. 
  • Policy alignment with vertical workstreams: As part of your role, you will coordinate closely with DIGITALEUROPE’s vertical workstreams—such as health, energy, mobility, public administration, defence and finance—to align cross-sectoral priorities on critical infrastructure resilience. You will lead the development of forward-looking policy publications and contribute to building DIGITALEUROPE’s thought leadership that highlight the essential role of secure, connected infrastructure in Europe’s digital and economic future. 
  • Stakeholder engagement: In close cooperation with the Outreach and Communications team, as well as the Director General herself, you will be designing and executing engagement strategies on key files, in alignment with DIGITALEUROPE’s long-term vision.  
  • Representation in stakeholder fora: You will represent DIGITALEUROPE in events linked to your work and/or accompany the Director General to relevant fora and meetings on your policy areas.  
  • Drive related activities to meet our Manifesto goals for the new EU mandate: Along with our Communications team, you will be actively involved in our European elections campaign and associated activities to ensure that the objectives that we have set in our Manifesto on cybersecurity, cloud and critical infrastructure are taken onboard by the Commission, including communications activities, events and stakeholder engagement.   
  • Business development: You will support DIGITALEUROPE’s recruitment efforts by identifying and engaging potential members in the fields of cybersecurity, security, and connectivity. Working with the membership team, you will help grow a strong network of industry leaders to strengthen our voice and impact in these strategic areas. 

Key requirements: 

  • Your personality: You possess a robust and loyal personality and are a dedicated team player with good judgement. You can work effectively under time and mental pressure, and approach challenges with a positive attitude. 
  • Experience: 10+ years of experience in EU public affairs working for a trade association, corporation, consultancy or government. Experience in association management is a plus. 
  • Expertise: Good understanding of the cybersecurity, cloud, critical infrastructure ecosystem in the EU and other regions. 
  • Network: Proven ability to build networks and grow communities. 
  • Cooperative: Demonstrated experience in working across the organisation and coordinating actions from staff from across teams.  
  • Analytical Skills: Excellent analytical skills, with the ability to distil complex policy documents into key points that speak to the audience. 
  • Communication Skills: Excellent writing and presentation skills, with the ability to convey complex policy matters succinctly to both a business and policy audience. Proficiency in English is mandatory; knowledge of French or German is a plus. 
  • Project Management & Execution: Proven ability to plan ahead, design, and deliver complex projects over a long execution phase. 
  • Education: A background in business management, law, or political science, with advanced degrees being a strong asset.
