About Vastuu Group
European individuals benefit from better control over personal data, which is stored in digital services, and subsequently accessed and processed by other services without the individuals being aware of its use. All individuals shall be equipped with intuitively usable tools to control by whom and on which terms their personal data is used.
The landscape of data use is severely fragmented and hard to understand and control. Each service provider is responsible to gather consent from its users. The user experiences, contexts, identities, authorization requests and consent notices vary between the providers. The gathered consents remain in the provider-owned silos. Thus, an individual lacks a holistic view on who has been allowed to access which data and when and for which purpose. Fragmentation creates confusion and doubts. Lack of trust hinders growth.

MyDataShare
provides a solution for the dilemma described above. The operator plays the role of a trusted intermediary between data subjects, data providers and data consumers within an ecosystem. The ecosystem is built on explicit trust among its members. The identified individuals are in the key position, they make decisions to share or deny access to data against clearly formulated requests. An individual might not own the data,but controls the use of that data in this transparent ecosystem. MyDataShare provides the individual a uniform user experience and transparency on access to data.
MyDataShare provides a familiar privacy dashboard for the individual, and acts as a trusted digital authorization orchestrator over data access or use to its registered set of providers and users of that data. As a trusted intermediary the operator stores and registers the consents that allow services to fetch data from a provider.
The operator never transfers the personal data shared, it only intermediates access to it – operator functions are separated from data flows.

About the award
The Pan-European Future Unicorn Award aims to highlight innovative SMEs that have the potential to become Europe’s next unicorns. The award is compiled by asking all the national trade associations affiliated with DIGITALEUROPE to nominate a single SME from their country. This results in a truly pan-European selection of incredible digital companies from all sectors.
The award will be delivered at our flagship event, Masters of Digital, in Brussels on 6 February.
