Europe’s digital rules should protect people and businesses without making it harder to innovate, invest, and scale.

Today, overlapping and complex requirements across data, cybersecurity and privacy are creating unnecessary costs and legal uncertainty for companies operating in Europe. The Digital Omnibus is an opportunity to change that, but simplification needs to go further.

DIGITALEUROPE and a coalition of 30 European associations are calling for three practical fixes: make B2B data sharing voluntary by default, create a single EU cyber-incident reporting system, and provide clear rules for using data for AI and scientific research.

The goal is simple: less duplication, more legal certainty and rules that allow European businesses to compete, without lowering protection standards.
