Communications officer 

Your profile

You hold a university degree in a relevant communications field and have between 1 to 2 years experience in a communications role – i.e. media relations ; public policy outreach ; stakeholders engagement ; online communications campaigns ; social media ;  website management ; etc.

You are a sociable team player used to a fast-paced digital environment, and capable to take initiative, respect tight deadlines and pay attention to details.

You have excellent writing skills. English native-speaker equivalent is a must ; fluency in other languages is desirable.

You enjoy working in an international and multicultural environment, and you like to engage with people from different professional backgrounds and levels of seniority.

You are driven, well-organised and creative.

You are familiar with EU policies and the EU decision-making process. Interest in digital policies is a plus.

Your role 

You will play a significant role in supporting all communications activities of the Association.

You will be reporting to the Communications and Political Outreach Director, and will be mainly responsible for the following areas :

Online communications

Bi-monthly newsletter : acting as the editor-in-chief of our most visible communication channel, gathering content from the policy teams and ensuring content and delivery quality

Social media : managing our accounts and using your creativity to design, manage and implement a new social media strategy

Website management : ensuring that the website is up-to-date with press releases and positions papers on a daily basis

Media relations

Implementing the yearly press plan

Drafting press releases together with colleagues from the various policy departments

Providing support in press-related activities

Monitoring news coverage and media clippings

Stakeholders’ engagement

Identifying and processing partnerships’ opportunities with relevant stakeholders in Brussels and across Europe

Identifying and processing joint communications campaigns with external partners

Identifing speaking opportunities at external events

Other

Graphic design : knowledge and experience of graphic design is a plus.

Audiovisual : knowledge and experience of video or/and photo production is a plus.

Marketing : knowledge and experience of marketing is a plus.

Supervision & management: for some of the tasks to be preformed, you may be requested to supervise the work of a trainee and/or to work directly with external service providers and contractors.

Policy Manager

DIGITALEUROPE represents the digital technology industry in Europe, comprising corporate and national association members from every part of Europe. We are looking for a Policy Manager for our Digital Enterprise Policy Group (DEPG), which includes some of DIGITALEUROPE’s most prominent working groups. The prospective candidate will be primarily responsible for managing the Privacy and Security Working Group (P&S WG) and will be supporting the association’s Digital Transformation Working Group (DTWG) and vertical strategy, dealing with the digitisation of industries such as manufacturing, transportation and pharma.

Key requirements for the role include:

·       Master’s degree in law, economics, political science or a related field.
·       Three to five years’ work experience in a policy, advocacy, government or campaigns role, with at least two years working with the European institutions.
·       Experience in data protection and/or cybersecurity policy highly desirable.
·       Understanding of, or interest in, the digital transformation of industries such as manufacturing, transportation and pharma.
·       An achiever attitude focused on high performance.
·       Ability to build consensus and promote trust both externally and internally.
·       Excellent research, writing and analytical skills.
·       Ability to synthesise policy documents, identifying relevant key points, facts and statistics that help explain complicated policy topics to broad   audiences in a concise way.
·       Ability to drive advocacy campaigns combining policy lobbying and media work.
·       Excellent presentation skills, with experience of presenting to senior staff and external audiences.
·       Excellent writing skills in English. Knowledge of German and/or French is desirable.
·       Ability to work in a fast-paced and culturally diverse environment, with competing priorities and workloads.
·       Well-organised with a proven ability to multitask.
·       Ability to consistently apply good judgment and make good and responsible decisions.
