DIGITALEUROPE firmly supports the European Commission’s Digital Education Action Plan

DIGITALEUROPE firmly supports the European Commission’s Digital Education Action Plan

The European Commission has released its Digital Education Action Plan today. The plan is important to DIGITALEUROPE’s members as it will scale up successful programmes across the EU, ensure important funding is available that can be used to driving skills training and certification, and coordinate action plans at Member State level to work closely with the organisation’s national trade associations network.

Cecilia Bonefeld-Dahl, Director General of DIGITALEUROPE comments:

“The European Commission has made an important first step with clear actions that are vital to technology companies operating in the EU. We now need to see the action plan deliver results.”

“The plan is an important effort to drive digital skills which will unlock the full potential to lift communities and the workforce to secure jobs and livelihoods, prepare children in education systems to be able to exploit important technologies and ensure Europe is a leader in creating world-class technology companies.”

“Let’s be clear: addressing climate change, helping our ageing population and fighting poverty will require digital skills.”

DIGITALEUROPE actively supports the European Commission to boost digital skills in Europe. DIGITALEUROPE has been managing pan-European awareness raising campaigns on digital skills since 2010, with a major impact on reducing the skills gaps, attracting people to new digital careers and bolstering cooperation between the industry and education sectors.
