VACANCY: Communications Officer

DIGITALEUROPE is looking for a Communications Officer to support on the organisation’s internal and external communications. Deadline to apply: 17 July.

Role description

The Communications Officer’s role is to ensure that DIGITALEUROPE’s policies and actions are presented clearly and persuasively to the outside world.

In this role, you will report to the Senior Communications Manager and work directly with the Director of Political Outreach and Communications from time to time. There will be a Communications intern to support you in your tasks.

As the leading trade association in the field of digital technologies and digitalising industries, we are looking for a motivated, pro-active candidate who is full of ideas that can help drive the organisation forward.

We are a small, dynamic team with space for you to grow professionally and bring your new ideas to the table. We also work with a range of external providers to ensure our output is of the highest quality.


External and internal communications, including:

  • Managing website content
  • Managing social media accounts (mainly Twitter, LinkedIn and YouTube), including organic and paid editorial planning, performance monitoring and regular reporting
  • Creating simple graphics for dissemination on social media and website
  • Managing the internal and external newsletters
  • Planning and supporting audiovisual production with external agencies
  • Media monitoring
  • Proofreading, editing, and overseeing design of policy documents, brochures, and ensuring coherence of corporate design across our output
  • Creating communications plans, briefings and toolkits for internal and external use
  • Contributing to DIGITALEUROPE’s communications strategy


  • At least 1-2 years of experience in a communications or public relations role
  • Excellent writing skills; ability to explain sometimes complex technical issues in simple and readable language, to structure information according to different formats and goals, and to tailor content to different audiences and channels
  • Very strong written and verbal English skills (native or C2 level)
  • Experience in creating and monitoring social media content, using both platform and third-party tools (Twitter and LinkedIn, Hootsuite)
  • Some experience with web publishing tools and CMS (WordPress)
  • Some experience with email marketing tools and CRM (MailChimp, Hubspot)
  • Some experience of graphic design (Adobe Suite, Canva)
  • Experience in monitoring and researching news, key trends and media
  • Organised and able to meet deadlines
  • Good administrative skills and ability to juggle multiple tasks
  • Self-driven and able to work autonomously
  • Enthusiastic and flexible approach
  • Good interpersonal skills
  • Enjoys and has experience of working in an international team
  • Education to a degree level (for instance in Communications or European Affairs)


  • Previous experience in event management
  • Previous experience of coordinating projects
  • A good understanding of EU politics and a keen interest in digital policy
