Copyright levies

The Copyright Levies group provides expertise, facts and supportive data to the EU Institutions in order to stress the urgent need for reforming the archaic and dysfunctional copyright levies systems operated in most EU Member States. It also promotes viable alternatives to the current systems, alternatives which would provide superior means for ensuring fair compensation to right holders in the digital arena.

DIGITALEUROPE is collaborating with the recording media industry (represented by RIAE) on this subject, as their industry is suffering equally hard from the current levies systems.

Over the past couple of years, the group's activities have included participating in the Commission's consultation on Creative Content Online and in the consultation on Copyright Levies Reform launched in February 2008 by DG Internal Market & Services.
