Policy

e-Government

The EU is increasingly co-ordinating national eGovernment policies so as to facilitate exchange of good practices, set priorities and agree on common standards and specifications, the overall objectives being to enhance the efficiency of public services in the EU Member States and to establish a single market for eGovernment services in Europe. DIGITALEUROPE's eGovernment group was established in December 2007 to monitor these issues and advise EU policy-makers on how the ICT industry can contribute to promoting eGovernment. The group is working on issues such as eGovernment research in the context of the Commission's Competitiveness and Innovation Framework Programme (CIP), eIdentification and eSignatures, eProcurement, and the implementation of the Services Directive by Member States.
