1. 6 Can Mobile technology act as an enabler towards dematerialization?
TRUE. Access to digital functionalities and services through single multimedia devices (capturing, storing, viewing, and sharing, as well as the distribution of images wirelessly and electronically) will allow to get a similar service, but dematerialized and usually with improved, digital quality. For example, electronic delivery of entertainment content is clearly substituting disc-based distribution (CD, DVD) and thus saves a lot of materials (paper, plastic, ink, etc) and energy (physical distribution of the discs to the stores, the consumer driving to the store to buy/rent, etc).
