1.3 "I cannot improve the power consumption of my TV".
FALSE. Basically the power consumption of a TV depends upon the brightness settings. By manually reducing the brightness of the viewing picture the power consumption can be greatly reduced. In many cases DIGITALEUROPE members have included pre-set "power saving" modes into their TV to assist the consumer in this area. Additionally many TV's have an ambient light-detection circuit which reduces the picture brightness when the ambient light is low (night-time), thereby further saving power. With the rise in popularity of listening to digital radio through interactive digital TV/IDTV's or Set Top Boxes/STB's, several makers have included a feature to disable the picture during this time, thereby allowing the consumer to listen to the radio broadcast whilst using minimal power.
