1.2 Your home audio/visual equipment uses electricity even when in stand-by mode.

TRUE. To reduce power whilst the unit is not in use, it is possible to switch it off via the on/off switch of the product or an additional multiple adapter (also known as multi-socket power strip) with a general switch (ie. a power cut out) with the equipment connected to it. However, this may impact upon the functionality of a networked product (refer to the owner's manual of the appliance for more details).

DIGITALEUROPE members have consistently reduced standby consumption of ICT/CE appliances. For example over the past decade TV and DVD standby power consumption has diminished more than 60% . As a result, today's stand-by power consumption of TV's and DVD players manufactured by many DIGITALEUROPE members is below 1 W. DIGITALEUROPE members'networked appliances include intelligent software solutions. For example, digital TV sets switch from a low standby mode to one where it can update the program guide data and then switch back to a low standby mode again.
