ICT SECTOR CALLS FOR EUROPE TO DELIVER ON DIGITAL AGENDA
19 May 2010Brussels, WEDNESDAY 19 May 2010: The message is clear: productivity growth and competitiveness of service industries, manufacturing and public sector will come from greater deployment of ICT by European companies, citizens and countries.
Bridget Cosgrave, Director-General of DIGITALEUROPE responded to today's press conference by Neelie Kroes saying, "The Digital Agenda for Europe together with the Europe' s Digital Competitiveness Report published this week by the European Commission are required reading for all Ministers in all Member States."
"ICT is a key enabler in realising the Digital Single Market which Europe urgently needs to retain its position on the global economic landscape," adds Erkki Ormala, President of DIGITALEUROPE.
"Alongside budget cutting programmes we should be seeing digital agendas from every EU Head of State," points out Cosgrave.
