The i2010-Lisbon Process
The i2010-Lisbon Process group advocates the crucial role of ICT in implementing the Lisbon Agenda. It is committed to promoting the recognition of ICT investments as the key to achieving the Lisbon objectives and promoting the "i2010 Action Plan" for both the Community and its Member States. Promoting a knowledge-based economy boosted by new ICT infrastructures, R&D investment and an improved regulatory framework for electronic communications are among the priorities of this group.
The group has been working on promoting eSkills in all society sectors in Europe and encouraging young people to follow careers in ICT. Within this context, DIGITALEUROPE organised jointly with the European Commission a conference on eSkills in January 2008 and has been working with AGE - the European Older People's Platform - to promote digital literacy amongst senior citizens. In a further effort to address the current deficit of ICT workers in the EU, the group has actively supported the Commission's proposal for a "Blue Card" that would ease access of highly skilled professionals from third countries to the EU.
