DIGITALEUROPE leads the Secretariat of the Digital Skills and Jobs Coalition 3 Feb 2017
The Digital Skills and Jobs Coalition is a multi-stakeholder partnership to tackle the lack of digital skills in Europe and the thousands of unfilled ICT-related vacancies across all industry sectors. Launched in December 2016, the Coalition aims to mobilise all actors that have the capacity to train and re-skill the labour force with the digital skills they need to remain productive and employable.
 
New 'Digital Skills and Jobs Coalition' to be launched in December 2016 7 Oct 2016
Building on the positive results of the Grand Coalition for Digital Jobs 2013-2016 and the EU e-skills strategy, the Digital Skills and Jobs Coalition will be launched in Brussels by Commissioner Oettinger and Vice President Ansip on 1 December 2016.
 
European Digital Skills Award waits for your application! 6 Oct 2016
The European Commission invites nominations until 30 October for the best projects, which encourage people to improve their digital skills. The intention is to identify projects that can inspire others to take similar actions all over Europe.

DIGITALEUROPE responds to Commission Start-Up Initiative Consultation 19 Jul 2016
On 19 July, DIGITALEUROPE submitted a response to the Commission’s public consultation on the Start-Up Initiative. An outcome of the Commission’s Single Market Strategy which called on the Commission to design a Start-Up Initiative, the consultation sought direct feedback from all relevant stakeholders (including entrepreneurs and start-up communities), with the aim of improving the environment for start-ups in Europe.

On 23 September, business leaders from the ICT industry sector addressed a letter to the incoming Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker asking him to support the Grand Coalition for Digital Jobs initiative by his predecessor in 2013. “I am convinced that the transformative role of digital technologies can be used for creating growth and jobs”, said Juncker during his election campaign.
