• The Digital Skills and Jobs Coalition reinforces its dialogue with social partners

14 May 2018Francesca Falco, Project Manager at DIGITALEUROPE, has been invited to present the Digital Skills and Jobs Coalition at BusinessEurope’s Social Affairs Committee Bureau’s meeting on 9 May.

The main goal of the Digital Skills and Jobs Coalition is to bring together a large, diverse number of stakeholders who are affected by and willing to engage to tackle the lack of digital skills in Europe. Among them, Member States, companies, non-profit organisations, education providers, and social partners.

The European Commission is making particular efforts to attract and involve social partners in the Coalition, to ignite a constructive dialogue among different interest groups on the skills gaps brought about by the digital transformation. This dialogue is based on the mutually agreed goal to find practical solutions to tackle unemployment and boost prosperity and competitiveness in Europe.

Participating in BusinessEurope’s Social Affairs Committee Bureau’s meeting was a great opportunity to inform its members of the progress made by the Digital Skills and Jobs Coalition since its launch in 2016, and invite them to get actively involved in the work of the Coalition both at the Pan-European and national level. This fruitful discussion led to an agreement on future cooperation, with special focus on digital skills training.

Since 2010, DIGITALEUROPE actively supports the European Commission to raise awareness and boost digital skills in Europe. For the past two years, DIGITALEUROPE has been managing the Secretariat of the Digital Skills and Jobs Coalition, facilitating dialogue among stakeholders from all sectors and inviting them to take concrete action, whilst setting up National Coalitions throughout European Member States.
