• DIGITALEUROPE speaks at annual Export Control Forum

    9 January 2018During the recent Commission Export Control Forum, DTPG vice-chair and export control issue lead Magnus Nordéus/Ericsson, presented the IT industry’s expectations and concerns towards the modernisation of the EU export control regime.

    On 19 December 2017, the European Commission organized a forum bringing together export control officials from various Members States and EU institutions, industry associations and manufacturers involved in the production or trade of dual-use items. Representatives of civil society and academia also got the chance to contribute to the exchange with their views. 

    The main objective of the 2017 Forum was to discuss the ongoing implementation of dual-use export control and to assess the latest state of play of the legislative process regarding the Commission proposal for a recast of the EU dual-use export control regulation.

    Magnus Nordéus, Head of Compliance at Ericsson and DIGITALEUROPE vice-chair and issue lead for export control shared the anticipated strengths, weaknesses and opportunities of the modernisation of the EU export control regime. While highlighting expected challenges, he also demonstrated that the modernization has the potential to bring more clarity inter alia with regard to definitions.
