• DIGITALEUROPE organizes Workshop on the Status of OECD and EU Activities on Responsible Sourcing

3 July 2017On 20 June 2017, DIGITALEUROPE hosted a workshop aimed at reviewing the status of the OECD work on responsible sourcing of minerals, European Union actions and the European Partnership for Responsible Minerals (EPRM)

On 8 June 2017, the EU Regulation laying down supply chain due diligence obligations for Union importers of tin, tantalum and tungsten, their ores, and gold originating from conflict-affected and high-risk areas (CAHRAs), entered into force.

The workshop was an opportunity to learn about ongoing and forthcoming activities by the European Commission necessary for the concrete implementation of the EU scheme.

It also offered interested stakeholders a possibility to get an update on the various OECD work streams dedicated to the topic of responsible sourcing.

Particitants to the workshop finally learned about the role of the European Partnerhip for Responsible Minerals (EPRM) in complementing the EU Regulation by increasing the demand for and supply of responsibly-sourced minerals from CAHRAs via a number of projects on the ground.

DIGITALEUROPE would like to thank all participants for the fruitful debate!
