Taking part in the meeting on behalf of DIGITALEUROPE was Director General, Cecilia Bonefeld-Dahl, and Directors Klaus-Dieter Axt and Damir Filipovic as well as the Chair of DIGITALEUROPE’s Market Access working group, Pietro Di Fiore (Hewlett-Packard)
Ms Bonefeld-Dahl presented to Mr. Husak the vision of DIGITALEUROPE and how we see the development of the digital technology sector in Europe. She stressed that although digital services may be viewed as ‘disruptive’, they are delivering growth and new high quality jobs and as such should not be viewed as ‘job destroyers’. Ms Bonefeld-Dahl stressed that it is essential for Europe to obtain a work force with proper digital competences and ensure enough capital and financing of growth of SMEs, while pushing for the harmonised alignment of EU law in Member State during the implementation stage. Ms Bonefeld-Dahl also introduced DIGITALEUROPE’s priority issues, which focused on digital infrastructure, data privacy and security, the digitization of traditional industries, as well as digital job creation and skills.
Mr. Di Fiore shared the concerns of DIGITALEUROPE regarding the implementation of the Radio Equipment Directive, especially the issue related to the lack of harmonised standards and the various interpretations of the Directive emerging in Member States.
