With this new Coalition, the Commission aims to bring together Member States and stakeholders to pledge actions and share best practices which can be replicated and scaled up across Europe. The new Coalition will also broaden the membership to ICT-using sectors and will have a stronger national and regional dimension. The new Coalition will also improve the dissemination of information about available EU funds. Lastly, Member States will be invited to develop comprehensive national digital skills strategies by mid-2017 on the basis of targets set by end-2016.
The Secretariat of the Digital Skills and Jobs Coalition (led by DIGITALEUROPE, European Schoolnet and Telecentre Europe) will support the EC in mobilising all stakeholders who can contribute to reducing the digital skills gap in Europe, and by establishing national digital skills coalitions in 28 Member States. All previous pledging organisations are invited to reconfirm their commitments and will join Commissioner Oettinger on stage during the launch conference on 1 December 2016.
