The Digital Trade Policy Group is committed to working with policy makers and other industry bodies to help secure a level playing field for the European digital technology industry and to improve the framework conditions for global trade in high-tech products and services. The group's general objectives are to boost free, balanced, open and fair trade and to promote the beneficial impact that Information and Communication Technology has on business, education, social inclusion opportunities and the environment. ICT plays an essential role in supporting daily life in today's digital society and it is critical for our industry to develop and enhance this by increasing market access worldwide, promoting innovation, promoting efficiency and productivity gains, and encouraging the free flow of ideas.
The Digital Trade Policy Group promotes the reduction and elimination of both tariff and non-tariff barriers to trade, in order to achieve an open international market. To this end, DIGITALEUROPE fully supports the expansion of the World Trade Organisation's rules-based, multilateral trade and investment system affording maximum access to markets with a minimum of restrictions.
